John McQueen is an internationally recognized contemporary artist who is known for his thought provoking sculpture made from twigs, many of which contain intricate images of familiar objects, letters and words. McQueen’s early work included more traditional basket weaving forms and through the years, his work has become more conceptual and sculptural, including depictions of natural forms and figures. McQueen’s work has been featured in exhibits and installations from New York to Hawaii. He has also exhibited in England, Denmark, Norway, Japan and Korea. His work can be viewed in the permanent collections of museums throughout the US, including The American Craft Museum and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City and the Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. McQueen has also received fellowship awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. He received his MFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
Jen Pepper is a Canadian-born installation artist who has exhibited in international and national venues in 17 solo exhibitions and over 50 group shows since 1990. An associate professor of art at Cazenovia College in New York, she has also served as gallery director since 2005. Her work is included in the Flatfiles at Pierogi in Brooklyn, NY. Pepper has been the recipient of granted awards including NEH, NYFA, NYSCA, Astraea Foundation and Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts. She has been an artist in residence to Art Colony Galichnik, Macedonia (2006), Foundation Valparaiso, Spain, The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Anam Cara Colony, Ireland (2001), Yaddo (2000), Sculpture Space, (1997), Millay Colony for the Arts (1995). Pepper has been a guest panelist at national Women’s Studies, Social Science and Society for Aesthetics annual conferences presenting papers on feminism and photographic explorations of identity. She holds a BFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from The University of Connecticut at Storrs.
