Both Ends of the Rainbow

On View January 30 - March 13, 2011

Opening Reception: Sunday, January 30 from 1 – 5pm

Reception for senior artists: Thursday, February 3 from 2-4pm

Both Ends of the Rainbow returns to the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center on January 30 and will be on view through March 13, 2011.  This annual exhibition will feature over 1,000 works of art by local students and senior citizens from Cayuga County.  

On view in Gallery Julius: Three Lakes Sampler, a collaborative project organized by Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES that includes artwork and poetry by local students. 

This year’s participating schools include:  Auburn High School; Casey Park Elementary; Cato-Meridian Elementary & High Schools; East Middle School; Emily Howland Elementary; Genesee Elementary; Herman Ave. Elementary; Millard Fillmore Elementary; Montessori School of the Finger Lakes; Moravia Central Middle & High Schools; Owasco Elementary; Peachtown Elementary; Seward Elementary; Southern Cayuga Middle & High Schools; St. Joseph School; Tyburn Academy; Union Springs Middle & High Schools; Weedsport Elementary; West Middle School.

Exciting New Addition!!  Visitors will also have an opportunity to buy raffle tickets for a painting by Skaneateles artist Fred Yehl.  The drawing will be held on March 19.  Raffle tickets are $20 each and may be purchased from January 30 to March 19. Yehl’s work (pictured above) will be on display during the Both Ends of the Rainbow exhibition.

A special reception for senior artists will be held on Thursday, February 3 from 2-4pm. Each year, senior citizens ages 65 & older that reside in Cayuga County are invited to participate in Both Ends of the Rainbow.
