Information for Submitting Proposals for Teaching

Are you an artist who enjoys teaching?  Have an idea for an art class?  

The Schweinfurth is looking for teachers for 2014 for an expanded array of classes.   

Youth Classes

1. Art After School

The Schweinfurth’s traditional 6 week sessions during the school year.

Ages 6-12

Wednesdays, 3:45-6pm

2. Crazy for Art

More intensive sessions and smaller groups.

Ages 8 and up

Wednesdays, 3:45-6pm. 

Session 1:  Play with Clay! Handbuilding, Jan 15-Feb 27 (no class Feb 20) (scheduled)

 

3. Winter & Spring Break Art Camp

Monday-Friday on School February Break and April Spring Break

9-12am & 1-4pm sessions

4. Summer Art Camps

Four weeks in July and August

9-12am & 1-4pm sessions

Example topics for youth classes:  Drawing, Nature & Art, Anime & Manga, Kniting, Felting, Puppet Making, Paper Mache, etc.   When it comes to art, the options are endless.

 

Adult Classes

1. Fine Art Series

Weekly sessions (typically 3-6 weeks) focused on a particular medium.

Examples of past classes: Book Arts, From Drawing to Painting, Watercolor

2. MakeShift

Creative 1-day or evening classes across a range of mediums, offered 1 day only, or during 2-6 sessions, meeting once per week.

Offered throughout the year.

Examples of past classes: Paper Recycling, Modern Quilting Basics

3. Studio Schweinfurth Workshops

Advanced Fiber Art workshops for adults led by nationally/internationally recognized teaching artists.  2-5 day sessions; 9am-4pm with an hour break for lunch. 

Offered throughout the year.

Examples of Past Offerings: Surface Design, Knitting, Quilt Design, Encaustic, Felting.

4. Quilting by the Lake

Advanced Fiber Art classes for adults led by nationally/internationally recognized teaching artists.  2 day, 3 day, and 5 day sessions; 9am-4pm with an hour break for lunch. 

Offered during two weeks in July each year. Classes held at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York.

Eamples of past offerings: Surface Design, Dying and Painting Fabric, Quilt Design, Clothing Design

Proposal requirements:

  • Description of your workshop.  Please indicate age range for students and preferred timing.
  • Materials list and teaching fees.
  • Contact information (name, email address, phone number, mailing address)
  • Images of artwork and other classes (if given previously), website if available
  • Resume
