Affirmation Quilts, with Luke Haynes and Nicole Leth

In this weeklong workshop, artists Luke Haynes and Nicole Leth will guide students in creating Affirmation Quilts that combine textile, language, identity, and care. Students will explore piecing, journaling, and a range of techniques for incorporating text onto quilt tops, while developing original affirmations or compassionate messages to share publicly. The class culminates in a collective public action, with finished quilts placed in the community to be discovered and taken home by strangers, connecting students to Luke and Nicole’s ongoing Affirmation Quilt project and exploring how quilts can become intimate acts of public art, generosity, and connection.

Materials Fee: $10


All QBL workshops begin on Monday and end on Friday. Workshops are from 8:30 am to 4 pm daily. Students check in to their dorms and move into classrooms on the Sunday before the workshop begins. There is a welcome dinner with a lecture Sunday night.
