The paint class workshop will feature imagery titled " Celestial Sunflower". The foundation of the design represents the Haudenosaunee Celestial Tree concept, which symbolizes life and prosperity. Encompassed in the top of the flower design is the "skydome" patterning, which represents earth and sky, and the path of the Sun across the sky. These two Haudenosaunee design concepts, combined together form our culturally reflective "Celestial Sunflower" image that we will be creating in the class workshop.
Supplies : all necessary supplies are provided for participants by instructor, and are included in the price of the workshop. These supplies include: canvas, acrylic paints, palette, paintbrush.
About the Teacher
My name is Lyle Logan, I am an enrolled Seneca Nation of Indians member, residing in Salamanca, N.Y. I have been practicing my artwork professionally for approximately 20 years with the majority of my body of work consisting of culturally relevant images and compositions. I work consistently in acrylic paint and graphite B&W. The Seneca Iroquois National Museum in Salamanca carries a number of my pieces in their permanent collection. I have been presenting paint class activities publicly for about 8 years, and have catered my subject matter in these classes to also be culturally reflective. Through my artwork, I hope to tell the story of who we are as Seneca/Haudenosaunee people for those generations to come.
