About the area
Hobart and William Smith Colleges has a historic lakeside campus at the north end of Seneca Lake, in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. QBL participants will enjoy beautiful views of the lake from the campus. Access to the lake and the Seneca Lake State Park are both a short drive or walk from the campus. The campus is within walking distance of the charming City of Geneva. It is a short drive from Belhurst Castle & Winery and both the Cayuga and Seneca Lake wine trails. Watkins Glen State Park and International Race Track are a 40-minute drive south of HWS. The region offers great hiking and biking opportunities.
Refunds, cancellations and class changes policy
The balance of the conference fee is due May 15, 2026. Balances not received by this date will be assessed a $25 late fee. Cancellations after May 17, 2026, are not refundable for any reason. There are no exceptions due to contractual obligations QBL has with Hobart and William Smith Colleges and QBL faculty. However, in the event cancellation is necessary, you may transfer your class registration to another individual. Class registrations can only be transferred within the same calendar year. Cancellations must be sent to QBL in writing and received no later than May 17, 2026, to qualify for a refund. Your QBL deposit is non-refundable. We encourage you to contact your travel agent to obtain travel insurance.
Special accommodations
If you require special accommodation of any kind, including transportation around campus, you must notify us in advance of any special needs when you register. Van pickups will be available.
Sewing machine rental
If you are interested in renting a sewing machine, contact Jon's Sewing Machines and have it delivered to QBL. Please call 315-594-2099 or visit the www.jonssewingmachines.com for more information.
Special events

Show & Tell: On the Monday of each week, QBL holds an evening Show & Tell where attendees are encouraged to display and talk about a recent piece they completed. Participants celebrating their 5th, 10th, 15th or 20+ anniversaries are recognized that evening.
Mini Mall: On the Tuesday of each week, QBL hosts a wine and cheese reception and store where participants, faculty, and guests can sell their handmade items, fabric, and books. Mini Mall participants are responsible for having a NYS Sales Tax Identification Number. Each person is provided with one table. The cost is $35 per person per session. A registration form will be mailed with final invoices.
Faculty lectures: Following Sunday night's Opening Banquet, QBL hosts a lecture by one of our outstanding faculty members. Every Thursday, classes break a little early to enjoy a lecture by another faculty member.
Scholarship raffle
Scholarship raffle baskets, benefiting the QBL Scholarship Fund, are being organized ahead of time. If individuals or a group would like to contribute a complete basket, please call or email QBL to let us know. Raffle Baskets will be on display at each session. Raffles take place at the Friday evening Closing Banquet. QBL greatly appreciates your continued support of the Scholarship fund!
Supplies
Supply lists can be downloaded from class descriptions. Don’t forget to bring extension cords and surge protectors.
Sending supplies
If you would like to send some of your supplies ahead of time, please send them to the address listed below. Be sure to write Quilting by the Lake on the outside of your package to facilitate delivery to your classroom. Packages MUST be shipped to arrive between Monday, July 14, and Friday, July 18. We CANNOT access packages that arrive on the weekend until the first day of class due to staff being off. Do not send any packages to the Schweinfurth Art Center. Ship to and label your package as follows:
